About Sanjay Gandhi National Park
Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP) serves as the primary green lung for Mumbai. The 104-square-kilometer reserve houses a dense forest ecosystem. It supports over 1,000 plant species and 250 bird species. You will also find a rare urban population of around 40 Indian leopards.
The park is famous for the Ancient Buddhist Caves. This vast complex of rock-cut Buddhist monuments dates back over 2,000 years. Visitors can also explore the Family & Wildlife, which feature a toy train, pedal boats, and a big cat safari.
